Welcome to…
…our all-inclusive Irish resort in the Great Northern Catskills. We specialize in groups and family reunions. We are famous for our homemade, fresh Nellie Gavin’s Irish Bread & Scones and good home-cooked food. Our Live Irish Music has also become a key attraction with our entertainment schedule full of well-known Irish and Irish-American musicians like the Andy Cooney Band, Screaming Orphans, Paddy Noonan, New York Showband with Tommy Flynn and many more. Our season runs March thru the end of October—we start the season on St. Patrick’s Day opening our Gavin’s Pub all day long serving Irish food and drink. The season comes to a close with plenty of music and drink at our Annual Guinness Festival held the Saturday of Columbus Day Weekend. Be sure to join us!
History
Established in 1961. My grandparents, Nellie & James Gavin opened Gavin’s Irish Country Inn in 1961. My father, Jack Gavin, along with his other seven brothers and sisters worked alongside my grandparents in the early years. My Dad loved working at the Inn and when he graduated from Fordham University he chose to manage the Inn alongside his parents with his wife / my mother, Margaret from Dublin, Ireland. Our Inn started off along the boarding house style and gradually grew into a traditional resort style and now we call ourselves an Inn. Today, my husband Brian and I (Bernadette Gavin-Palmieri) are the Innkeepers and we are proud to be the 3rd generation family and hope to keep our family tradition alive. We are known for a home-away from home experience, “cozy,” with clean accommodations, home-cooked yummy family meals with an Irish flare, activities for all ages such as bingo, horse racing and arts & crafts during the day to fun evening entertainment from Rock Climbing Wall to LIVE Irish Music, and more!
What Renovations or Improvements have we done in the past few years?
