Gavin's Irish Country Inn is a family-owned, all-inclusive Irish resort in East Durham, NY — the Catskills' "Irish Alps." Opened in 1923 as the Golden Hill House and run by the Gavin family since 1961, it offers 60 rooms, three home-cooked meals a day, live Irish music in Gavin's Pub, a heated pool and 20 acres for family reunions, weddings, festivals and getaways.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included — you never pay extra for good food here, and our kitchen takes it seriously. Dinner starts the day you arrive and breakfast sends you home.

Gavin’s Pub has a real stage, Guinness on tap and a dance floor that fills with step dancers on festival weekends. In-house guests are welcome every night; the public joins us on announced nights.

Our story
From the Golden Hill House to Gavin’s
- 1923The Scutt family opens the Golden Hill House, a boarding house in the hills above East Durham.
- 1961Nellie and Jim Gavin, immigrants from County Mayo, buy it and give it the family name.
- TodayThird-generation innkeepers Brian and Bernadette raise their four children here — and the whole family works the inn.
